Recover Control itself
Create a separate encrypted recovery bundle for Control configuration and recovery keys.
A Control recovery bundle protects the panel's configuration separately from your Site and database backups. Keep a verified copy away from the server.
Where to find recovery tools
Open Server → Settings → Management → Recovery Tools to view the supported export, verify and restore commands. Run these commands in an administrator shell, not in the browser.
Create and verify a recovery bundle
Prepare a private passphrase file with permissions that prevent other users from reading it. Use the installed panel-recovery utility to export the encrypted .cpr bundle and verify it:
sudo panel-recovery export --output /safe/control-panel.cpr --passphrase-file /root/control-recovery.pass
sudo panel-recovery verify --input /safe/control-panel.cpr --passphrase-file /root/control-recovery.pass
Copy the resulting bundle off-server and store its passphrase separately. Losing both the original server and an off-server recovery copy can prevent recovery.
Restore Control
Restoring Control configuration is an administrator maintenance operation. Stop the panel services before restore, then restart them when restore completes:
sudo systemctl stop paneld.service panel-agent.service
sudo panel-recovery restore --input /safe/control-panel.cpr --passphrase-file /root/control-recovery.pass
sudo systemctl start panel-agent.service paneld.service
Restore may invalidate existing sign-in sessions. Reopen Control and review Sites, backup destinations and Attention. Site files and databases have separate backup and restore procedures.
