Storage and Files
Browse Site, Public and Data files and manage uploads.
Use a Site's Storage page to browse and manage its files. The file manager is limited to the selected Site, not the whole server.
Choose a file area
- Site — browse the Site's accessible files.
- Public — the Site's public document root, where served files live.
- Data — Site data and accessible private application files.
Available areas depend on the Site and installed applications. Control protects its own service files and some data managed directly by a running application.
Browse folders
Double-click a folder to open it. Use Up to return to the parent folder. The displayed path belongs to the selected file area; it is not the Linux server's filesystem root.
Work with files
Create files or folders, edit supported text files, upload, download, rename, move, copy or delete items. Folder sizes help identify large directories. If a replacement would overwrite a file, Control asks for confirmation.
Bulk actions
Select multiple files or folders to move, copy, delete or archive them together. Keyboard and drag-selection controls are available where supported. ZIP creation is intended for folders or a selection of files.
Gzip delivery
On the Public area of eligible PHP and Static Sites, select supported web/text files and choose Gzip Delivery. Control leaves the stored file unchanged and compresses the HTTP response only for browsers/clients that support gzip.
A configured file shows a GZIP badge. Choose Stop Gzip to remove that delivery policy. This is response compression, not a ZIP archive and not a replacement copy of the file.
Large transfers
Browser uploads can resume after an interrupted request. You can also drag files into the current folder. Use SFTP for transfers where you prefer an external client.
Application data
Before modifying a running application's private database or storage files, check whether the application provides its own export or maintenance tool. Deleting live application data through the file manager can cause data loss.
