Backup destinations

Choose local server storage or S3-compatible object storage for backup copies.

A scheduled backup needs a destination.

Local server storage

Choose Local server storage for a dedicated backup directory managed by Control. Local backup storage protects against Site-level mistakes but is not sufficient protection against loss of the entire server or disk.

S3-compatible storage

Choose S3-compatible object storage and provide the HTTPS endpoint, region, bucket, prefix and scoped credentials. Use a bucket dedicated to backups where practical.

When the provider supports S3 Object Lock, immutable retention can add protection against accidental or malicious deletion.

Backup destination credentials are not shown again after saving. Keep a separate record of the provider account and recovery arrangements.
