Operating-system updates
Refresh the APT package inventory and apply selected package updates.
Use Updates to review packages with newer versions available from the configured operating-system repositories.
You can refresh the package index, select security updates, select all updates or choose individual packages. Review the selected package list before applying it.
Control briefly reuses a recently observed update inventory to avoid repeatedly running the same package-manager simulation when several read-only surfaces ask for it close together. The original observation time is retained, and refresh, upgrade or managed component-install activity invalidates that short-lived view. An upgrade validates its package selection against a fresh inventory before mutation.
Operating-system package upgrades are not always automatically reversible. If the package manager changes the system and then fails, Control can report the operation as requiring attention instead of claiming the server returned to its previous state.
A reboot required indicator means the operating system recommends a reboot to complete one or more updates. Schedule that reboot yourself after considering Site impact.
