Site Design

Change branding presentation, colours, type, widths, content defaults and archive presentation.

Open Design → Site Design for the normal visual editor of the active Design. Changes here affect the site presentation without requiring you to edit CSS or templates.

Live Preview

Use the preview at the top of Site Design to check a sample or an existing content item before saving. Switch between desktop, tablet and mobile widths when a change could affect layout.

Header Identity

Brand display controls how compatible Headers show the Site Title and Site Logo configured in Site Settings. Choose Logo + Site Title, Logo only or Site Title only. If a logo-dependent option is selected without a Site Logo, Micro CMS safely shows the Site Title instead.

Colour & Shape

Choose whether the site follows the visitor's device preference or stays in Light or Dark mode. Set the light and dark colour sets and the shared corner radius. First-party Designs use these values throughout their normal interface.

Type

Choose the body and heading typefaces, base size, type scale, line height, heading weight and reading width. Custom font stacks are available when you already know the browser-safe font stack you want to use.

Widths & Spacing

Set the normal content width, wide width, page gutter and spacing between major sections. Full-width content can either reach the viewport edge or stop at the site's wide width. Where a Design supports a Sidebar, choose its position and the Sidebar resource to use.

Page & Post Defaults

Set the normal width and decide whether Pages or Posts show titles, featured Media, author/date/read time, Categories and Tags, sharing, or an author card. Individual content can override supported defaults when there is a genuine exception.

Profile Menu

Show Authenticated Profile Menu enables the native signed-in Profile Menu on Headers that include the supported Profile Menu position. First-party Headers such as Advanced and Documentation can use this setting.

Default Listing Style

Choose the default layout, style, columns, image ratio, excerpt length, page size and loading behaviour for archives. Posts, Category, Tag, Author, Collection and Search listings can inherit that style or have their own override.

Active Design resources

When a theme Resource Pack owns the active Design, Micro CMS uses the Header, Footer, Template and other supported resources supplied by that Design. Native Core supplies supported roles the active Design does not provide.

If Site Design reports incomplete compatibility, open System → Site Health → Diagnostics → Design Contract to see which resources are currently selected and where attention is needed.

Design-specific controls

Some Designs add their own clearly labelled options beneath the standard controls. Those options belong to that Design and move with it when the Design is packaged or reused.

Core Design is the clean baseline

Core Design remains immutable so the Site always has a known clean presentation baseline. You can select it in Site Design and change controls normally: when you save, Micro CMS automatically creates an editable Site Design copy derived from Core, applies your changes there and makes that copy the Site default.

Use Restore Core Design to return the Site to the pristine Core baseline and clear local presentation overrides. Your custom Design remains available if you want to switch back later. Header Navigation gap supports the full Core range, including the default 2px value.
