Move or relocate a site
Move a Micro CMS installation or change the public route without assuming a specific hosting folder layout.
A site move can change the server directory, the public domain, the public path, or more than one of those at once. Treat them as separate checks.
Before moving
- Create a current backup.
- Record the current public URL and any domain redirects.
- Keep the existing live site available until the replacement has been tested.
- Check whether email, scheduled tasks or hosting rules refer to the old server path.
Move the installation
Copy or restore Micro CMS to the intended directory and make sure the required data and Media locations remain writable. Hosting providers use different document-root names, so use the real path shown by your host rather than following a copied example literally.
Update the public address
Use Site Settings and the hosting configuration so Micro CMS and the web server agree on the address visitors should use. Test the site at the intended canonical domain and path.
Subdirectory to root
It is valid to prepare Micro CMS under a path such as /cm/ while the existing site remains at the domain root. During cutover, change the hosting route and Micro CMS public address together so assets, Admin links and generated URLs continue to resolve correctly.
After the move
Test Admin sign-in, Media, public Pages, Forms/mail, search and Background Jobs. Check Redirects & 404s for old paths that visitors are still using.
